Getting Started Guide. Adding your Website to the system.
After you confirmed your registration log into your WL Automatic Links Exchanger account, carefully read our Guidelines and click Add own Website link. On the page that loads fill in all the fields:
Your domain name like webmasterlagoon.com, do not use http:// or www. here.
If your site begins with www put it in the second field like www. (dot included) or leave it empty. This prefix is important indeed since if you have redirect when your site is accessible without www. to www.yourdomain.com our robot may incounter a problem updating links on your site.
Choose an url address of your directory. For example our_partners, then the url to your main directory will be like http://your_domain.com/our_partners/your_directory_name.php
Do not use Capital letters, spaces or other special symbols here. Instead of spaces use - or _ (hyphen or underscore).
Choose categories which will be displayed on your main directory and which you will be exchanging links with. Later you can add or delete categories on the Edit own websites page.
Select Space Delimiter in your links pages. In other words choose how your links pages will look like. If the name of the category is Internet Services than the name of the links page will be either internet_services.html or internet-services.html
Choose either _ underscore or - hyphen.
Choose the category your site is related to. This will be the category in which your site will be placed on other member sites like the categories you chose above.
Add link codes of your site. On the Add own website page you can add only 3 variants but you can add more on the Edit own Websites page later.
Important! in the Link URL: field you can add only url address containing your website address, either your domain name like http://www.webmasterlagoon.com or some internal page of your site like http://www.webmasterlagoon.com/some_page.html
We stick to this rule to eliminate some junk sites which carry no real value and serve only as donor sites to promote other good sites. This will keep our network clean and safe of banned and low value sites which will eventually benefit all of us.
Then choose the name of your main directory. Default is directory.html. We strongly suggest that you choose some other unique name.
If you like to do one way or three way link exchange which involves at least 3 sites choose in the dropdown menu one of your other sites and make it Your Partner Website for one way link exchange.
What is one way or three way link exchange? If you have 2 sites related to one subject you can link them as Your Partner Websites and exchange links with other members in this way: Your site A links to a member site C and site C in its turn links back to your other site B
It this is your first site in the system then there will be no Your Partner Websites in the dropdown list. But when you will be adding another site you will see in the list this currently being added site.
Important! Once you link sites as Your Partner Websites you won't be able to unlink them. You will have to delete one of them and add again.
If you edit the categories of one of your Your Partner Website its categories will be changed too in order to be the same on two sites.
Choose Type of Link Exchange.
Important! You cannot choose one way type of link exchange without Your Partner Website.
When you choose Your Partner Website and Type of Link Exchange as one way, your partner website's Type of Link Exchange changes to one way too.
When you delete on of Your Partner Websites the other site automatically changes Type of Link Exchange to reciprocal.

Installing the script on your site.
After you successfully added your site to the system you will be offered to install the script on your server.
We offer you 2 options: either use our Automatic online installer or download and install the script manually.
Installing the script is in fact very easy and takes less then a minute.
If you install with the help of Automatic online installer fallow the instructions.
If you install manually, unpack the zip archive and carefully read the readme.txt file for instructions.
Upload the script's folder on your server into your sites main folder, usually it is public_html then give the entire folder 777 permission rights and open in your browser the url which will be in your readme.txt file.
It will be something like this http://yourdomain.com/path_to_your_directory/your_main_directory_name.html/install.php
You should see the message Script Installed Successfully
Important! If your server doesn't allow to set 777 rights to a folder you will probably see 500 Internal Server Error message.
Then reverse the rights of the script's folder to 755 and make sure all the files inside the folder have 644 rights.
Then open http://yourdomain.com/path_to_your_directory/your_main_directory_name.html/install.php link again.
You should see Script Installed Successfully.
If you have problems contact me. Include into your email your ftp or cpanel login details, your webmasterlagoon.com login, point out that you use Wl Automatic Links Exchanger (we also have other products, so don't confuse me, please) and describe your problem.
Important! After you successfully installed the script, place a visible link on a prominent place somewhere on your site's home page. Then go to Edit own Websites page and click the Check installation link.
Our robot will check the link and your site will be set Pending approval status.
After it is reviewed by the administrator to meet our Guidelines it will be approved.
Check the status of your site to see if it's approved. We also suggest that you carefully read our guidelines before submission.

Customizing your Links Pages
After you installed the script on your site, we suggest that you make your main directory and specific links pages look like the rest of your site.
By default the look of your link pages is made very simple and with no images.
To customize your link pages go to Edit own Websites page, choose your site and click Edit, then on the page that loads click:
Main Links Directory Format to customize the look of the main directory,
Category Links Page Format to customize the look of your link pages.
Our Links Managing Panel gives you the most flexibility to customize not only the design of the pages but also meta keywords, meta description, title and each links page Heading.
We offer several levels of customization starting from html novices to experienced webmasters.
Choose your Settings Level in the dropdown list. If you are a bit familiar with html, the best way would be to choose Advanced settings and Add your own template, then open one of the pages of your site in a text editor, delete the unwanted content, links and place the wildcard {CONTENT} where you want the links or categories to appear.
In this way you will embed your links directory in the main design of your site. This will look very natural both to your visitors and search engines.
Take care about images in your template!
If for example your image in the original template looks like <img src="images/some-image.jpg"> make the src="/images/some-image.jpg" with a preceding / slash or src="http://yourdomain.com/images/some-image.jpg"
The same applies to navigation links if you have any in your original template.

Managing Link Partners
Our Links Control Panel allows you to find, disable and enable your link partners across all your sites with one click.
To manage your directory link partners click Manage Directory Links link on the right sidebar.
To find a particular link partner use the search box at the top. Check the databases i.e. your sites you wish to search in and hit the find button.
You can disable or enable a link partner. By default all link partners of the chosen categories are enabled.
To enable or disable a link partner across all your websites at the same time, click Make active all or Disable all buttons at the bottom of the page.
To enable or disable a link partner on a specific site click Make this site active or Disable this site in the corresponding box.
Carefully pay attention to the Link status, you can only edit link partners with Active or Disabled status.
If the status is pending that means that the link partner is already displayed on your links pages and is waiting for our robot to update your links partner reciprocal page. This is a gradual process and can take several days up to a week.
The pending status usually appears after you or your link partner enabled or disabled a specific link, or added/deleted some categories.
You also cannot enable a link partner if he/she in his/her turn disabled your site. Then the You cannot modify this site since its owner has disabled your site message appears.
If some member disables your site on their sites, their links will still be visible on your site for some time until our robot removes them from your sites.
You can also list your link partners of a specific site using List All Link Partners link near the name of your site.
Use List link Partners by: option to define your search criteria: By category, All active, All disabled, One way or reciprocal link exchange type.
To edit specific link partners tick the checkboxes of these sites and choose the option Make Disabled or Make Active, then hit Submit.

Types of Links Exchange
We offer several types of link exchange among our network members.
The most common is reciprocal. A member's link is placed on your site and in return a link to your site is placed on this member's site.
The second type is One Way or Three Way link exchange.
What is one way or three way link exchange? If you have 2 sites related to one subject you can link them as Your Partner Websites and exchange links with other members in this way: Your site A links to a member site C and site C in its turn links back to your other site B
Now we try to explain how our network works.
If you choose reciprocal type we reciprocate your site with all other members sites who also chose reciprocal type of exchange. As for members who chose one way type we reciprocate your site with them as one way. That is we place a link on your site to one of member's site but you receive a back link from his other Partner Website.
If you choose one way type of exchange, your site exchanges links with other members who chose reciprocal type in one way manner.
As for other members who chose one way type, you exchange links with them in a kind of Four Way type.
For example: if you have 2 Partner Websites A and B and the other member has his own 2 sites C and D, the pattern looks like this:
We place a link to C on your site A and site D places a link back to your site B.
